What is a digital garden??

How I learned about digital gardens

"A digital garden is a kind of digital refuge, a retreat to get in touch with your own ideas."

While I'm sure that there are many many different definitions for digital gardening, I do not care to look so deeply into something I am doing purely for myself. I want to enjoy my time doing this and not worry so much about if I'm doing it "right", something I struggle with so so often.

Recently, I find myself doomscrolling more and more, unable to focus on one thing, overconsuming, etc.

However, I want to stop consuming so much nonsense online, stop spending so much time not focusing on what I am in fact consuming, and start to feel more grounded to reality.

All of these issues, can be improved with a digital garden in my opinion.

Some quotes that really stuch out to me in Anna Howards video were:
"this work could not birth itself"
"active consumption... second brain... instant feedback... a network that interlinks..."

So what I personally think a digital garden is, is a kind of second brain where you take notes on everything you consume, think, and feel and eventually you link all of those together until they form coherent thoughts, ideas, etc.

In my opinion, it seems to be a kind of brainstorming. A way to come up with more ideas.

I will personally be using a neocities for this rather than an obsidian or notion as I think this is more me than an obsidian or notion and I want other people to be able to see my chaos of a brain.

Have fun exploring!
